” Sports for children with disability helps not only in improved fitness levels and better health outcomes, but also promotes social inclusion, reduces stigma and depression.” – American Academy of Pediatrics
Research consistently shows that children with visual impairments participate in significantly less physical activity than their sighted peers. This inactivity not only hampers the development of motor skills, but also contributes to social exclusion, marginalization, and diminished self-confidence. The ripple effects extend beyond emotional wellbeing—impacting physical health, fitness, and the child’s ability to engage meaningfully with their environment and community.
Barriers such as limited access to adaptive sports, fear of injury, and inadequate social support systems often prevent children with visual impairments from participating in physical activities. These challenges not only restrict their right to play, but also hinder their physical development, social integration, and emotional wellbeing.
EquiSport programme of Equibeing enables creating a sporting eco-system in blind schools – by providing facilitators and sporting equipment. To build the competitive spirit, the programme also enables conduct of intra and inter-school blind sports competition.

The EquiFloat programme harnesses the transformative power of swimming as both a therapeutic and rehabilitative tool for individuals with visual impairments. By enhancing muscle tone, reflexive coordination, and overall physical health, it fosters relaxation, boosts self-confidence, and nurtures a sense of independence. EquiFloat is a gateway to dignity, inclusion, and improved quality of life.
