We conducted a first phase study on how blindness is perceived in Bengaluru, offering deep insights into societal attitudes towards blind. The survey of 275 participants from diverse backgrounds of age 18-60 reveals widespread sympathy for blind individuals but also highlights major misconceptions. This research offers crucial insights for policymakers, educators, and advocacy groups aiming to integrate blind individuals into society. Future studies should expand on these findings with larger, more diverse samples and examine how societal attitudes towards blindness evolve over time.
